Cohen as she is known was born in Nigeria to an Israeli father and a Nigerian mother, and was living with her parents and sister in Kano, before she moved to Israel. There she joined the Israeli military as a military personnel and she became the fist and only Nigerian woman to serve in the Israeli Army.
I always wanted to come to Israel, ever since i was a small child, i wanted a deeper connection, to understand what 'Israel' is, and not just through stories, Cohen said.Though it was a dream which she has finally actualized, she still faced difficulties adjusting to another lifestyle in another country.
New immigrants are often embarrassed and ashamed to speak, because they may say something another wrong and i was one of them but at some point i realized that i couldn't go on like this. She learnt Hebrew and her friends helped her to adjust into the Israeli society. She said that her father was happy about her decision to become an officer in the Israeli Army, and also her father was an officer in the Israeli Army.
I made a lot of mistakes along the way, and it was hard, but it was worth it, she said.
