A Week of the Past

Episode Four: Thursday.

8:45 A.M.: First Thursday of every month was regarded as a clean up and sanitation day at my business area, so you either find me at home or my shop at this particular time depending on the particular Thursday.

The clean up lasts for three hours which begins from seven to ten o'clock in the morning.

Sometimes i do prefer the first Thursday cause if allowed me do some certain things which i mostly do on Saturdays and Sundays.

My line neighbour, was always of a helping hand to me, that's why i respect him so much. Though he is wealthy to some extent, he sometimes brought business deals for me to handle.

I could remember one certain supply contract he made possible for me at Trans Amadi; it is a place were you will find mostly different kinds of companies and industries.

I supplied a lot of electrical wires ranging from four millimetres to eighten millimetres. At the end of the supply, i realized a profit worth over a hundred thousand naira.

11:50 A.M.: I got a call from the electrician incharge of electrical maintenance at Bloom Bridge High School. He had called to inform me that he would be coming to my shop to return some of the materials he bought from me some days back, because they were more than required good.

Our call lasted for up to twenty-five minutes while we were making arguments. At this point in time, i made calls to my customers at Lagos, requesting for goids that were lacking in my shop.

Most goods i had on sale were bought from Lagos except the conduit and surface pipes which i often bought from Kano state. Though i always had a lot of pipes, so i barely lack them for sale.

2:30 A.M.: I remembered finding myself at an ongoing construction site, it was actually a proposed building for a three storey hotel. The funny thing was that the contract for building the hotel was meant to last for just four months.

According to the plans for thr building, the hotel was meant to have all the facilities, with regards to a standard and well structured hotel. So work on site was fast, perpetual and consistent, most times they worked till midnight.

I was lucky to have gained a supply contract at the site on electrical materials, but the electrician in charge was so demanding. The way i kept the part of my supply cause i was not the only one supplying materials, i had to reach the demands of the electrician.

Despite all tge stress encountered at the site with the electrician, stopping by a good restaurant and having my lunch while returning to my shop, was a must, but then i had to be quick cause the time was running towards the evening.

5:10 P.M.: And who says that business men don't face challenges, go tell that person that they even face more than that. What is even challenge? We face big time quarrel, fight and even war; sometimes third world war.

I mentioned in one of my previous post that being a bag debtor taints ones image in business, and this co-hustler of mine had started with a bad note.

Though i never knew he could get that worse, but i was happy that the war was averted and then i could not let him go without paying the money he had owed me for months. Seizing his goods was my next inevitable action.

The rest of the day was not funny at all. You know these things happens a lot and the ability of you keeping to your stand and avoiding such scenario in future keeps you on track, but sometimes you can't just help it.

8:20 A.M.: The only thing that mostly calmed my temper was my PS2 game when ever am at home, i may even risk my dinner, and you know since it was sometimes a risk i created for myself i often do suffer the consequence the next day.

I always do forget some certain things that should come first; i forgot to mention that i lived in a rented apartment with my apprentist, so it was a compound full of tenants and neighbour tenants.

I hate compound troubles, so i do avoid them, i can actually say that i never had up to two trouble scenario i, that compound.

I had this certain female co-tenant of mine whom i have been...

I am OAJ.
