Someone should please help me tell the NYSC officials that we have tried and also tired of serving this country.
The worst part of it is that someone can not even save money from the scheme anymore, everything is just too expensive, a module of garri is now N850. I won't lie, i seriously hate this Buhari government.
Imagine a situation whereby withdrawal of money attracts a fine, transfer is even the worst. N30 is been charged for a thousand naira of every withdrawal all because there is no place a bank can be spotted in a whole local government.
So we are all left with the only privilege of using a POS for withdrawal and transfer of money. It means N570 charge for N19,000. Remember we are been paid N19,800, so before the end of the month, N19,000 would have been withdrawn and we will then be left with only N230 as account balance.
The annoying aspect is that both the state government and local government do not show concern and care to the corps members. All they are good at is making empty promises and giving us fake hopes.
If not for the fact that my PPA is a girls school, i don't think i would have continued till this extent. Though not much is derived from the students, but...
At this point, i can be as clairvoyant as a seer, so i have made plans together with my fellow corp members at my school, on way to go about disgracing this government for their lack of support to our efforts.
Meanwhile, today happens to be our CDS, so those people spreading false rumors and doubting that we at local areas are doing CDS, i hope this clears your doubt.
I was actually thinking that we won't engage with further CDS till our 'on low key POP', anyways let me just write that this is our last CDS before 'on low key POP'.
Despite the ray of the sun and all the discouraging and disqualifying thoughts and comments, we still moved on to enlighten the people at the local level on the need to have some certain basic knowledge about some fundamentals.
We divided ourselves to three groups before embarking on our enlightenment program. I must have to commend our efforts and conclusively, it was a success, because we got positive response and reactions from the various people we engaged with.
The theme of our CDS movement program today is 'HIV/AIDS is Real', we enlightened them thus:
MEANING OF HIV
HIV: The acronym HIV stands for human immuno deficiency virus. It is a virus that infects human and causes a lowering of the body's immune system. This makes it impossible for the body to fight certain infections.

AIDS - Acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
- A - Acquired means that one gets the disease from somewhere else and that the body does not make the disease.

HOW IS HIV TRANSMITTED
There are three (3) basic modes of HIV transmission from an infected person to a non-infected person. They are:
- Sexual intercourse.
- Infected blood and blood products.
- Infected mother to her child.
HOW HIV CAN BE NON-TRANSMITTABLE
HIV can not be transmitted through normal social contacts like:
- Sneezing
- Mosquito or insect bite
- Coughing
- Touching
- Holding or shaking of hands
- Sharing plates, cups, dresses, bathrooms and swimming pool.
PREVENTION OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES (HIV)
- Abstinence from all forms of sexual intercourse.
- Being faithful to one uninfected sexual partner.
- Constant and correct use of condom.
- Avoid sharing of sharp skin piercing instrument like razors, clippers, needles, etc, with an infected person.
- Avoid transfusion with HIV infected blood.
More were eventually discussed during the time of our campaign and even the younger ones were not left out as they where more eager to hear our message.
