My last day on duty at my school as the day of my passing out as a teacher corps member approaches. The school activities for the day normally starts with an assembly of all the students which i have always missed out, since i resumed teaching.
Duty day activities normally involves organisation, supervision and control of all the students activities for the day by the master on duty with a duty report at the end of the day; usually a permanent staff or a temporary teacher assisted by a prefect scheduled on duty as well.
The time runs from 7:00 in the morning to 9:00 at night, but the master on duty seizes to be on duty once it is 6:30 in the evening and is expected to exit the school premise to the staff quarters.
I got to the school about 7:50 in the morning knowing fully well that i was late, i resumed my duty immediately because i did not want to be queried by the school authority for my late resumption on my duty day.
Though assembly was over already and i was supposed to have a revision class with the SS 2 students but then i only had to advice them on reading their books and prepare themselves for their exams which starts anytime next week.
Zainab aka 7-7, as i preferably call her happens to be my assistant as the prefect on duty; i started calling her 7-7 the day she told me that she is the second daughter and third born from the family of 7 siblings, which is same as mine just that i am a guy.
7-7 was already up and doing and she handled every activity in the most suitable way. The only time i contributed was when dealing with the SS 3 students whom always proves to be stubborn.
At the end of the day, i told 7-7 to write the duty report. Though it is expected that the duty master writes the duty report, but you know...
After she wrote the report, i did some editing so it would be that i actually wrote it, and i quote:
I am OAJ.

Duty Report On the 24th of March 2017
The assembly which started by 7:00 in the morning and lasted for 30 minutes, had all the students in attendance, but hitherto the assembly, thorough clean up was done to all the classes by the students.
Breakfast bell was rang by 9:30, beans cake and Lipton tea; without sugar, was served to all the students for their breakfast at the dining hall.
By 10:10, the students went back to their various classes to receive lectures. Maximum cooperation was ensued for total silence of every class because i endeavored to go round the whole class rooms.
The school activities ended by 1:40pm, which saw the students back to their hostels. 20 minutes was given to them to prepare for their lunch by 2:00pm.
Porridge beans and yam was served to the students as their lunch at the dining hall, which was enough for them that we served the JS 1 and 2 students twice.
Their games activities was conducted by the game master and i, and we were assisted by other staffs present. I must have to say that it was not easy guiding the students on how to go about the various sports we coached them on. It lasted for an hour and thirty minutes.
By 5:30 to 6:00, jollof rice was served as dinner which was enough for each and every student. And i saw that all students went for evening prayers before i left the premise by 6:30 in the evening.
I would love to appreciate the efforts of the kitchen master and his colleagues for ensuring the quick readiness of all the meals they prepared. And i would also urge and encourage them to do more, most especially on the breakfast they prepare.
