Following a fire outbreak in a fuel station which saw to the death of seven people last week in Ghana, the Ghana President has ordered an immediate ban to the construction of fuel stations.
According to records, for the past three years, Ghana has had a total of eight fuel station disasters. The worst of it all was the one that occurred in the month of June last two years, 2015, which recorded a death toll of more than 100 persons in the capital.
Two days ago, October 12, 2017, the President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo, stated out detailed pattern and measures to stop fuel and gas stations explosions, and to that effect, twenty fuel stations have been nonfunctional following orders from the government this week.
Meanwhile the Ghana's National Petroleum Authority is already making plans in setting out a committee of 200 auditors whose jobs would be t check fuel stations' safety standards.
