Kenyan Police officer charged for sexually assaulting 13-year old girl


A Police officer in Kenya has been charged to court for his alleged sexual assault of a 13 year-old girl who he was guarding in a cell.

So many would ask what she was doing in a Police cell in the first place!

Actually the young girl was being held at Murang'a Police station in central Kenya last weekend for allegedly stealing clothes. Reports reaching us had it that the police officer had initially promised the girl bail in exchange for sexual pleasures.

The officer is currently under detention for a period of five days while investigations commences. If found guilty, the policeman faces a possible jail term of up to 25 year in prison.

The incident has ignited a public outcry on social media and among human rights organisations  in the country. According to a woman rights organisation, Federation of Women Lawyers (Fida), cases of sexual assault involving the police are on the increase in the country.
