On February 22, the 18 candidates for the presidency agreed to work toward a peaceful election. The election is scheduled for Saturday, February 25.
Bola Tinubu (APC), Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP), Dan Nwanyanwu (ZLP), and others were among the presidential candidates in attendance. Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party, represented the party.

Presidential candidates for the 2023 elections were required to sign the Peace Treaty twice. The first was signed in September of last year, prior to the start of Campaigns. That agreement was signed in order to bind the candidates to a peaceful campaign.

The second, which the candidates signed today, pledges their commitment to a peaceful presidential election in 2023.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Bishop Matthew Kukah, and Dr. John Momoh, CON are among the peace committee members present. Others present included the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba and former South African President Thabo Mbeki, who is leading the Commonwealth Election Observer Group to Nigeria.

During the 2015 elections, the committee was established.
