Terrifying video shows moment alligator drag woman to her death while she was walking her dog (video)

A horrifying video shows an 85-year-old woman in Florida being dragged to her death as a 10-foot alligator lunges at her while she is trying to save her dog.
Gloria Serge is seen standing with her leashed dog Monday by a lake outside Spanish Lakes Fairways, a retirement complex in Fort Pierce, in video obtained by Inside Edition.

The woman moves away from the 700-pound beast as the alligator surfaces close and approaches her.
She can barely get a few feet before the venomous reptile scrambles out of the water and tries to attack the dog because it moves too quickly.
Serge, who frantically attempted to shield her pet from its powerful jaws, was fatally attacked and pulled underwater.
While on the phone with 911, Serge's neighbor Carol Thomas told Inside Edition that she tried to assist him.
"There's a lady in the lake!" "The alligator has her!" The dispatcher is informed by Thomas. "I believe she's left. Oh my goodness!"

Thomas stated that she attempted to pull Serge to safety using a pole.

She told the outlet, "There is no way I could have gotten to her sooner."
"It must be awful for her family. Simply put, it's terrible. Also, I spoke with a few of her friends yesterday who are in shock.

Robert Lilly, an alligator catcher who was sent in to capture the predator, claimed that "it was definitely a fight."

"We caught him at the base. He never came out. The entire time, he was down," Lilly recalled.
We were able to hook him up with a second hook and a heavy line so that we could lift him up.
